Review update: To be honest I expected the derogatory response the owners have written to my review ( just look at their response to other unfavourable reviews on here folks and you’ll know exactly what I mean!) What has astonished me though is the shocking lack of integrity they have shown in their response. I could go through each point of the truly unbelievable fabrication they have offered as the scenario of my visit and the defamation of my character, but to be honest- life is too short! I gave a fair and honest review of the food and of my experience and I stand by that. With regard to the owner’s statement that I'm not welcome in the cafe again- well that’s a little redundant and silly really given that I had already asserted that I wouldn’t consider returning anyway! Despite the review, and their appalling lack of integrity in their response on here - I wish them well going forward. Travelled quite a distance to visit here today as we really liked the sound of their menu. I had the ‘Deep Filled Bacon’ sandwich which was advertised as coming with a special tomato sauce. At £11 this was extremely underwhelming! The sandwich was anything but deep filled and had two tiny tomato pieces in the whole sandwich which were billed on the cafe menu as served with confit tomatoes ( been to many cafes who don’t say they have deep filled sandwiches who provide substantially more!) Then arrived minus the sauce - had to go and ask for it and the server was non plussed that it had been omitted. The other person in my party had a club sandwich which they described as ‘okay’. Two okay sandwiches and one latte came to exactly £30. All in all wouldn’t return - both customer service and the mis description of the food let it down.
Listen, are you wanting good coffee? Good service and a small business owner who remembers your order after maybe two visits? Then yeah, this is the place. Music is amazing and the coffee is too. I recommend.
This was my first trip to Baby Grey having only recently moved to the area. I had the Special eggs and they were wonderful, lovely flavours and quality ingredients! I also loved the chilled vibe and the service was great! We shall definitely come back, highly recommended! Oh I and I love the music, I must have ‘Shazammed” every song!!
We loved our visit to Baby grey. The Hummus and eggs was one of the best combinations we have had for breakfast. Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Service is brilliant and would highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a high quality brunch.
Found Baby Gray whilst on a sojourn up North, and definitely will be staying on my list of dining spots to visit away from home. Food quality is on par with old haunts such as Brother Marcus in Islington, which is doubly impressive when you compare the size; Baby Gray has a lot less space to work with, and so punches well above it's weight. The all important coffee is excellent, as coffee must be. Flat white was the right size, the milk was perfectly textured and the latte art adeptly done. The ambiance is lovely, it's got a buzz to compliment the tasteful decor, nicely wrapped up with some great tunes playing off a record deck. This is an elegant touch; in a world of on-demand music, curated quality looks to be their USP, which from what I saw seems to be what this spot is about. The only thing I don't like about this place is that it's not closer to home. Nothing is entirely perfect.
