My Review for IHS Substance Abuse (DETOX) Branch: The Staff are make all the difference!! I'm very proud I went here and made the choice to save and improve my life for the better! The Staff are caring & fully supporting and they help you through every step of the process. 3 meals are provided via the food bank (not always the best, but its food) and there are also snacks on the side provided by staff or through donations given. Staff ensure it as clean as possible; there were NO BED BUGS there when I was a patient (Oct. 2025). Only about 8-10, or so, patients are taken in during one week. Patients stay for 7-8 days, then you graduate, and then they transport you to either transitional housing or your next phase of treatment (Hina Mauka, Poailani, etc.) While at IHS, staff ensure or assist you w/applying for health insurance, obtaining IDs, EBT/GA, and assign you a psychiatrist (if needed). Lastly, staff take and measure your body stats every few hrs, checking if your okay and just want you to be overall comfortable - esp. during the hell-ish parts of your substance detox. Cigarette/vape breaks are given, but only every few hours. Final note: if you do choose to go here, I advise you to bring COLD temperature CLOTHING 🥶!! The AC is kept in the 60's and it gets extremely very cold!! Bring several pairs of socks and hoodie jackets. I personally couldn't get my core temperature up, so they provided me a space heater for the remainer of my stay (Thank you Teri ♡). I feel so blessed I was given the chance to come here and I'm currently on day 198 (6 mo.+), clean & counting. I'll always remember you guys & Thank you- from the bottom of my heart, always ❤️ Mahalo Nui Loa IHS staff and Nurses!! Pls keep doing God's work- we greatly appreciate you. ♡ J P.s. They also greatly appreciate warm clothing donations and easy, ready to eat snacks and treats for the patients (Food bank food gets old quickly over there.) Always remember to pay it forward ❤️
FORGET THE PLACE ENTIRELY. , ONE CALL?? and if you're not "on the grass straight outside right now on your dying breath" IMMEDIATELY homeless... you DO NOT QUALIFY!!! a mother. 4 kids??? struggling, soom to be homeless. "but are they homeless right now" and get abruptly hung up on if its "no" Unstable housing situation, could be kicked out at any second. Untrustable enviorment, compiling debt. toxic situation, harmful surroundence that could get dangerous. "We can't help you,,, i dont see it." is already implied.
this is a terrible place to go to. the other day, i was at risk of homelessness, and they turned me away simply for not being 24 hours homeless and also because i couldn't pay a fee. THEY WILL TURN YOU AWAY! THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR WELL BEING! THEY CARE ABOUT GOVERNMENT RULES!!!
I was assaulted by the staff (Amber) at IHS and had to spend the night in the hospital because of a head wound. I have submitted a police report and there were multiple witnesses. These people don't want to help you. They want to bully and control 'guests'. Justice needs to be served. IHS is a horrible place. Please don't go there.
This place is a death sentence getting sent here, horrible staff, very rude, bed bugs the size of quarters and the whole place is infested with bed bugs and when I asked what they were doing about the bed bug problem the staff responded with it's too bad to even try to do anything. Being on the streets is a better option and probably safer.
