River of life is an Ecumenical, no profit, that gives more than just a meal. They care for the homeless, provide toiletries, a safe space. A place to get a warm shower and even have clothes for those who need it. Miracles happen everyday there.
I will never forget the warm hospitality I received here during my homeless stay in Hawaii in 2008 No one is perfect but these people really do try to live the Christian message. Some of my fondest memories of Hawaii are of the hours I spent eating and fellowshipping at this mission. For a homeless person, not having to worry about where your next meal is coming from is a blessing that can't be overrated. I could wake up in the morning and know there would be a meal waiting for me at the mission, the same with midday and evening. And after that evening meal and hymn sing, I would leave for my bed down filled with peace and gratitude. It has only just occurred to me that I could express that gratitude by leaving a much belated review. By the way, I am not a practicing Christian and when I'm tempted to turn my back on Christianity entirely and permanently, I recall time spent basking in the true spirit of Christianity at your mission.
They were there for me when I needed them. Great staff. Food was pretty good. Showers, clothing, breakfast once a week. I was able to use their clippers to cut my own hair for a job interview, which I got. Thank you, River Of Life. You helped me get through a confusing time in my life.
